The Surajkund Mela Authority has added
many new features to the 17th Surajkund Crafts Mela Celebrations.
- The Mela Authority is holding a Painters
and Sculptors workshop in collaboration with the College of Art,
Delhi from 3rd to 9th February. A children's workshop has also been
set up here. Eminent painters and sculptors have been invited to
interact with the students.
- A quiz as also an exhibition on languishing
crafts has been organised as part of the event. The exhibition
will be held for the entire mela fortnight. A quiz on such crafts will
be organised on the 10th of February.

This year a special platform has been set up for demonstration of
crafts techniques. Demonstrations by craftspersons will be held on
weekdays. The demonstrations will have great educational value for
students arriving to see the Mela. Children coming directly from schools,
will be allowed free entry.
- Putting up culture
performances in the Natyashala during the day time by the different
schools.
- Exposure of handicraft and
handloom arts with the special focus on languishing arts in the country through
discussions and quiz to be organized by Crafts Museum, New Delhi.
- Special package for school
groups visiting the Mela in which conducted tour and food will be
included.
